Dr. Gianluca Gubbiotti graduated from the University of Perugia in 1995 and obtained the Ph.D. from the University of Camerino in 1998. He was post-doc at the Perugia Physics Department and in 2001 became researcher at CNR-INFM. Since 2008 he is a CNR-IOM researcher and he is now the head of the Perugia CNR-IOM research unit. Primary scientific interests include magnetization dynamics of low dimensional magnetic systems such as thin films and multilayers, patterned structures, planar and layered magnonic crystals investigated by means of wave-vector and space-resolved Brillouin light scattering (BLS) spectroscopy. G. Gubbiotti has participated in several national and international projects and his work was foundational in the field of magnonics being the first to experimentally evidence the spin-wave band structures in planar 1D and 2D magnonic crystals. He has co-published about 200 peer-reviewed papers and 13 book chapters. He is the Editor of two books entitled ”Magnetic Properties of Laterally Confined Nanometric Structures” (2006) and “Three-dimensional magnonics: layered, micro- and nano-structures” (2019) and presented more than 80 contributions to international academic conferences, workshops and research centers as a presenting author including 30 invited talks and lectures. He is a member of the Editorial board of the IOP Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter for the Magnetism Session. |
