Dr. Igor Pis received his PhD degree in surface and interface physics from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic.
In 2010, as a guest researcher at National Institute for Materials Science in Japan, he contributed to the development of laboratory based system for hard X-rays photoemission spectroscopy. Since 2013, he is working at synchrotron Elettra in Trieste, Italy.
In 2019 he joined the Institute of Materials (IOM) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR), where he is currently working at BACH beamline station of the Elettra synchrotron.
His research activities are focused on the experimental characterization of materials (e.g., 2D materials, nanomaterials, surface structures, metal alloys, thin films, catalysts, materials for energy storage and conversion) and their electronic, chemical and structural properties by means of soft X-ray spectroscopy.
