I received a PhD in Chemical Physics in 2013 under the supervision of Prof. H.-J. Freund at the Fritz Haber Institute of Max Planck Society, Berlin, Germany. Soon after, I was appointed postdoctoral fellow at the Nanospectroscopy beamline, Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste, Italy, where I worked on chemical doping of 2D materials while providing scientific and technical assistance for the external users of the beamline.

In 2017 I received a second postdoctoral grant from the University of Trieste to join the STRAS Laboratory, CNR-IOM, Trieste, Italy, where I used Low-Temperature STM to characterize functionalized 2D materials and biomimetic systems. In June 2020 I have become permanent Staff Researcher at the CNR-IOM, Trieste, Italy.

My current research interest is the production, characterization and functionalization of 2D materials as model for electronic and catalitic devices, dynamics of surface and interface processes (epitassial growth, molecule deposition and self-organization, material transport, catalysis), electronic and magnetic properites of nanostructured thin films and device models for catalysis, energy production and storage, spintronics.
